As the Executive Director of Talent Services, I play a pivotal role in leading and managing key HR functions and teams within the district. My responsibilities encompass a broad range of duties aimed at ensuring compliance, enhancing employee relations, and driving strategic HR initiatives. Key responsibilities include:Compliance Leadership: Oversee the employment of all personnel in accordance with the provisions of various laws and regulations, including FLSA, EEO, Affirmative Action Program, Title IX and Section 504, FMLA, ADA, ERISA, IRS 125 Cafeteria Plan, and other employee benefit laws.Team Leadership: Plan and direct the day-to-day responsibilities of the Employee Relations, Benefits, and Worker Compensation teams within Human Resources to ensure effective and efficient operations.Negotiations: Serve on multiple District Certified and Classified negotiation teams. Collaborate closely with the Omaha Public Schools Education Association (OEA) and Local 226. Engage in all aspects of the negotiation process to foster collaborative and productive outcomes.Progressive Discipline: Oversee the Talent Services team to support struggling staff members by utilizing our progressive discipline philosophy, ensuring fair and constructive support for staff improvement.Strategic Planning: Develop comprehensive strategic plans to support various HR functions that benefit both employees and administration. This includes devising initiatives to enhance employee engagement, performance, and well-being.Leadership Support: Serve as the primary backup to the Chief Talent Officer, providing leadership and support in their absence and ensuring continuity of HR operations.HR Strategy Development: Assist in the development and lead the execution of human resource strategies and programs that support all areas of the District, aligning HR initiatives with the overall goals and objectives of the organization.

I am a member of the Human Resources team as the Executive Director of Staffing. I provide leadership in daily operations to HR staff, supporting the Chief Talent Officer. I am responsible for maintaining appropriate levels of staffing and managing staffing needs across the District for Certified and Classified staff. I serve on the District Leadership Team (DLT), collaborating and supporting multiple teams and programs. CERTIFIED - Responsible for overseeing and hiring 3,500 plus certified positions.CLASSIFIED - Responsible for overseeing and hiring 4,500 plus classified positionsDATA: Analyze staffing and substitute data weekly with the HR admin team and the Chief Talent Officer. We review trend data to be proactive in hiring, recruiting, and retaining staff. FAMILY MEDICAL LEAVE ACT: Collaborate and coordinate FML services for staff with the Coordinator of Employee Relations/Title IX.NEGOTIATIONS: I serve on multiple District Certified and Classified negotiation teams and collaborate with the Omaha Public Schools Education Association (OEA) and Local 226. I have been involved in all aspects of the negotiation process.PLANS OF IMPROVEMENT: I am responsible for overseeing staff members who are placed on an informal or formal plan of improvement. This is a collaborative process with the building principal or site supervisor. PROGRESSIVE DISCIPLINE: Collaborate with the Coordinator of Employee Relations/Discipline to support struggling staff members.STUDENT ASSIGNMENT PLAN STEERING COMMITTEE: Collaborate with Student Placement and analyze appropriate staffing allocation for 52,000 students. STUDENT TEACHERS: I regularly collaborate with the Coordinator of Recruit and Retention to support the recruitment and placement of all student teachersSUBSTITUTES: I oversee and collaborate frequently with Omaha Public Schools HR processor recruiting and supporting 1,000 plus substitutes. I became Frontline Certified in Fall of 2022.

•Administer Educator Academy and Master Mentor Program: Coordination of the LEA program and providing professional support and a growth model for certified staff joining the Westside Community School District during their first three years of employment.•Lead PK-21 Professional Learning: Collaborate with principals, teachers, and District administration to lead the professional learning for all certified staff in the District.•Organize and support PK-12 Professional Learning Communities: Provide the leadership needed for the effective implementation of PLC’s across the District in collaboration with the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning.•Elementary Reading Coordinators: Lead Elementary Reading Coordinators in collaboration with the Director of Curriculum & Assessment. •District Instructional Coaches: Lead District Instructional Coaches in the facilitation and support for all certified teachers.•Administer pre-opening activities: Lead, organize, and develop the professional learning activities that take place prior to the first official day of student reporting.•Professional Learning Calendar: Organize and plan the yearlong professional learning calendar for K-21 including planning, organizing, and facilitating professional learning opportunities. •Team member: Serve on the Superintendent Council team, appropriate MOEC and Learning Community committees, Facilities Task Force, administration Learning Labs, multiple District teams, including the WCS Teaching and Learning Department.•Administer TitleI/IIA- Analyze future trends, complete the reporting for all Title (I and IIA) / NCLB/ESSA programs, and manage the Title budget. •K-12 student teachers: Work with the universities and colleges to place K-12 student-teacher assignments in collaboration with District administrators and staff.•Support the curriculum, instruction, intervention, and assessment design process, including the analysis and interpretation of state testing results.
