At Koval Distillery I work in mashing a variety of grains, preparing batches to distill, and batching of spirits. I also lead a Production Standards program in ensuring product quality for production purposes.

I oversaw production based tasks including fermentation, distillation, blending of spirits, and quality assurance. Also, this entailed being in charge of bottling of all spirits and the barreling of whiskies.

Des Moines, Iowa Area

I assisted in production and packaging of product to be shipped off-premise, as well as general warehouse work. I also have assisted in deliveries, small time sales, and taking inventory at locations around Des Moines.

For the fall 2016 semester I worked with Dr. Cairns, a mentor and professor of mine, to pursue understanding different ligand binding pathways. We experimented with the binding capabilities of different methoxy- and sulfonated organic compounds to tetrabutylammonium. This was done with the goal of having the tetrabutylammonium acting as a leaving group to more easily create metal complexes. For the spring of 2017 I worked with another mentor of mine, Dr. Gitua. We worked towards extracting Artemether from Coartem 20/120 anti-malarial tablets. Success in separation will be determined using several different techniques, but including Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy.

As an Orientation Leader, I led students through the process of registering for classes, facilitated personal growth of incoming students, informed students of information regarding the Drake Arts and Sciences Department, and was an academic/peer mentor into the fall semester.

Des Moines, Iowa Area

Daily duties included: ensuring pool staff success, member satisfaction, and ensuring food/beverage quality.The summer of 2015 I was pool staff, and was later promoted to pool manager for the summer of 2016.
