Greg has been both an academic and a practitioner throughout his career. As a practitioner, he spent 25 plus years working for the British Columbia government on complex issues that ranged from hunger fasts, bombing and burnings among the Russian Doukhobors to treaty negotiations, policing and justice with First Nations. Following his work with the Province, he served as a consultant with the World Bank Institute, working with parliamentarians from South-East Asia and Africa, and as a consultant with United Nations Development Program in Uzbekistan, where he introduced evidence-based policy making to the Uzbek government. In his second career as an academic, he was Associate Professor and Director of the School of Peace and Conflict Management at Royal Roads University where he taught conflict analysis and management and later Director of Business Development establishing educational partnerships with universities internationally. Following Royal Roads, he was Dean of the Schools of Business, Fine Arts + Design, Humanities + Social Sciences at North Island College, followed by Campus Administrator at Vancouver Island University - Powell River Campus. In the past he has taught in graduate programs at the University of Victoria, Khon Kaen and Chiang Mai Universities in Thailand, and in the MBA program at Sharif University of Technology in Iran. He has been a visiting lecturer at St. Petersburg State University’s Conflictology program in Russia, the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland and at Tufts University in Massachusetts. Greg has a Master of Arts degree in leadership from Royal Roads University and a PhD in ethno political conflict from the University of Victoria.
