My philosophy of care is to provide compassion and support for people who desire positive change. My therapy style is interactive and engaging. I enjoy helping people find their strengths to learn new ways of thinking and behaving. This is accomplished through a warm therapeutic relationship and scientifically supported treatment.Since I was a child I knew I wanted to find a profession where I could help people. My formal training in psychology began in 1999 at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and I earned my Ph.D in clinical psychology from Loma Linda University in Southern California in 2011. Post-doctoral residency training occurred at Kaiser Permanente in Walnut Creek, CA. Throughout my career I have been fortunate to practice among many skilled professionals.I have experience treating depression, anxiety, ADHD, OCD, bipolar disorder, grief, substance abuse, compulsive behaviors, eating disorders, trauma, cognitive changes due to brain injury or neurological disease, schizophrenia, and relationship problems. I have a strong psychological and neuropsychological assessment background. I conduct compensation and pension evaluations for US veterans and perform screening interviews for security personnel. I've performed as an expert witness for civil litigation. I practice an integrated approach to treatment and use techniques from Mindfulness-Based Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (MCBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and psychodynamic theory. Some questions that commonly resonate with people seeking support: Do you struggle with creating or maintaining healthy relationships? Do you need support ending an unhealthy relationship? Do you experience worry, anxiety, feelings of sadness, guilt, hopelessness, or thoughts of suicide?Do you have medical problems that make it hard to cope? Do you feel stuck in a repetitive cycle? My desire is to help people develop and reach their goals to improve their lives. You don't have to do it alone.
