The Benefits Division adminsters the City's LAwell/Flex Benefits Program for 24,000 employees and another 30,000 family members. The Deferred Compensation trust fund has $5 Billion in assets. And, the Workers' Compensation Division handles approximately 7,000 claims per year and processes approximately 200,000 medical requests per year. In addition, the Workers' Compensation Division retains Third Party Administrators and administers an Alternative Resolution Program for non-sworn personnel. Other responsibilities included the administration of Requests for Proposals for the Benefits and Workers' Compensation Divisions, overseeing contracts, preparing yearly budgets for each division and drafting personnel policies.Briefed Mayor's Office and elected officials and made appearances before City Council and Committees related to Benefits and Workers' Compensation, including the Executive Employee Relations Committee, the Personnel and Animal Welfare Committee, the Budget and Finance Committee and the Joint Labor Management Benefits Committee.
