Gregory Ellison is a West Point graduate, decorated combat veteran, and co-owner of an oil & gas exploration company (www.kittyhawkenergy.com). After graduating from Lafayette (Louisiana) High School and the United States Military Academy, Lt. Colonel Ellison served in every level of command from platoon through Corps. In 1988, while a student in the School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS), then Major Ellison wrote a noted thesis on the Iran-Iraq War. While at III Corps (Fort Hood), Lt. Colonel Ellison functioned as Chief, Tactical War Plans Branch, designing war plans (Cold War) for the defense of Western Europe. During Desert Shield/Storm, he was deployed to Saudi Arabia as the Operations Officer of the First Cavalry Division Artillery. As part of the Theater Deception plan, Lt. Colonel Ellison planned and supervised the execution of nine artillery raids, forward of friendly lines into Iraq. For his actions, he was awarded the Bronze Star and the Legion of Merit. He earned a BS in engineering from West Point along with three Masters Degrees in: Business, History and Liberal Arts. Returning to Lafayette after his Army retirement, he co-founded Kitty Hawk Energy in 2003. Greg has been very active in community affairs: Board Member of Acadiana Outreach, Ascension Episcopal Vestry, President of the PTA for the Episcopal School of Acadiana (ESA), ESA School Board, Chairman of the Board of AMIkids Acadiana (www.amikids.org), and Hearing Committee Member for the Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board. Greg has been married to the former Jane Zimmerman for 36 years, and they have two children and three grandchildren. 7/31/15
