About Gregory Erickson
Semiconductor device physics and processing has been a passion of mine since my first project as an undergraduate. To pursue this passion, I achieved a Master's Degree from the University of Oregon in Semiconductor device physics and processing. After graduating, I found a job in Richardson TX as a Photolithography Process Engineer. As a photolithography process engineer, I support the manufacturing production line by performing tool quals as need to ensure proper capacity for manufacturing needs. I also do improvement projects to make photolithography processes more robust and cost-effective, eliminating waste and improving yields. I also mentor interns and younger members of the team to get them up to speed and support them in their roles. I have also been involved in projects reporting to upper management including reporting fab wide reworks and/or hold metrics by working with other engineers to understand root causes of issues and forming actions to correct them then compiling all data into a concise presentation easy for everyone to understand. As part of my current role I've also been involved in setting up and maintaining an SPC system in photo to track all tool data and automatically put lots on hold or tools down to prevent further abnormal processes. This has saved countless reworks and scraps by catching issues early and preventing reocurrence.
Listed skills include Spanish, Microsoft Office, Teamwork, Data Analysis, and 30 others.

Photolithography Process Engineer
Current- Implemented process change to use thicker passivation coat resulting in reduced reworks at most critical layer with annual savings over $100,000.
- Facilitated reduction of rework fab wide from 2.5% to 1.5% by tracking root causes and collaborating with members of other teams.
- Assisted in setting up SPC system using EES to monitor processes and apply OCAPs such as automatically putting lots on hold or stopping tools.
- Facilitated reduction of lot holds by 50% for photo module by addressing root causes.
- Optimized batch develop process for 1st layer to eliminate rework due to under-develop.
- Coat/develop process owner for both 150mm and 200mm BAW line utilizing FSI Polaris and TEL ACT8 tools.
Photolithography Process Engineering Intern
- Designed and conducted experiments with other engineers to develop an improved lamp change procedure with a better capacity to detect critical dimension excursions of steppers
- Qualified processes and tools for production using experiments on GaAs wafers and analyzing the resulting data using statistical control methods on the JMP software
- Conducted experiments with fellow engineers to identify the root cause of the critical dimension drift of a particular stepper and bring said tool back into production
- Assisting in projects led to a working knowledge of compound semiconductor and acoustic filter device physics, including GaAs, GaN and SAW filters
Graduate Student
- Fabricated functioning solar cells and MOSFET devices from raw silicon using photolithography, diffusion doping, wet and dry oxide growth, chemical etching and metal evaporation processes.
- Lead development and optimization of process parameters to achieve the best possible final product using device physics and information from other teams.
- Analyzed devices for defects using various techniques, such as capacitance-voltage, current-voltage and optical imaging using characterization equipment and computer software.
- Learned semiconductor processing techniques by using equipment in the lab to make a MOS capacitor, etched silicon oxide and a p-n junction using PVD, photolithography and constant source diffusion doping, respectively.
Technician
I have worked as a technician for several years as a summer job. I work in various locations depending on where a tech is needed. As a technician, I have learned to troubleshoot and be resourceful in a short time so that installs don't last more than a couple hours. My primary responsibility as a tech is to install security systems and the home automation.
Satellite Operations Manager
- Selected for temporary management position due to past performance and leadership capabilities
- Generated over $2 million in revenue by managing a team of 3 technicians to install over 600 accounts in a 3 month period while installing systems myself.
- Regularly met with the Sales Manager to keep team plans and goals clear resulting in a highly productive summer for both sales reps and technicians.
- Maintained inventory of each individual tech as well as the office stock to have less than 1% loss over the summer by requiring technicians to review past used inventory.
Undergraduate Researcher
- Learned semiconductor processing methods, including handling of various micro-processing lab equipment such as a dicer, photolithography mask aligner, wet etch chemicals and photoresists.
- Investigated the anisotropic etching properties of silicon by using KOH on 60 μm wide pillars of crystalline silicon made from dicing in the (100), (110) and (111) planes and observing the evolving shapes.
- Etched the pillars and walls made from dicing using a 6M KOH etch in 15 minute intervals to then observe the crystalline silicon behavior using a SEM.
Undergraduate Researcher
- Observed hydrogen in the universe by designing, constructing and maintaining a flexible mounting system for a 12-foot-wide radio telescope capable of seeing the 1440 MHz line.
- Determined that the receiver used for data collection behaved in a temperature dependent manner by collecting temperature data simultaneously with hydrogen data.
- Conducted sky scans with the telescope, identifying Milky Way, the sun and other bright hydrogen sources in the universe
