I’m Gregory Guertin, a project planner at Weston & Sampson with over 15 years of experience in urban planning, ecological resiliency, and community development. My career began with Revive the Roots, a nonprofit I co-founded at 18, focused on regenerative land use and community building. The lessons from that experience guide my planning approach and philosophy today—strengthening communities from the ground up, fostering local resilience, and promoting thoughtful, incremental growth in harmony with our local ecosystems.At Weston & Sampson, I work on projects that help communities balance growth with long-term resilience. Whether leading zoning ordinance updates, comprehensive plan overhauls, or multi-modal transportation initiatives across New England, I focus on creating solutions that bring people together—local governments, nonprofits, and citizens alike—to foster stronger, more adaptable communities.Before joining Weston & Sampson, I served as Senior Planner for the City of Cranston, where I managed complex land development proposals and transportation projects. My leadership roles in both public and nonprofit sectors, including as Executive Director of Recycle-A-Bike, have deepened my commitment to active mobility and community-driven solutions. I also proudly serve on the Smithfield Land Trust, working to protect the open spaces that shape the character of our town.I hold a Master’s in Community Development & Planning from Clark University and specialize in areas like GIS analysis, public engagement, and incremental development. I’m particularly passionate about projects that integrate ecological resilience and self sufficiency within planning efforts.Outside of work, I’m exploring regenerative practices on my family’s homestead in Rhode Island and I’m always looking for opportunities to connect with others who share a vision for more resilient and regenerative communities.
