Oversee development of computer, storage, and networking services which support OhioLINK's delivery of articles, citations, books, images, videos, e-books, and other documents to Ohio faculty and students which resulted in more than 27.3 million downloads by faculty and students in 2008.Responsible for system reliability and system performance for OhioLINK machines and systems resulting in an average uptime of 99.995%.Create, define, and implement security policies for the OhioLINK computing environment. Monitor systems and network for intrusion detection.Schedule and coordinate system backups, database loads, software updates, hardware installations, and system maintenance for the OhioLINK systems. Oversaw the adaptation of SAN technology and ongoing migration of data to newer technologies. Current project is migrating from 30TB IBM SAN to a 500TB HP SAN which is part of the state-wide shared services infrastructure.Select and purchase appropriate computing equipment and software. Serve as the primary interface with vendors and Wright State University's purchasing department (the fiscal agent of OhioLINK). Develop highly detailed RFI technological requirements.Collaborate and maintain highly functional working relationships with other state-wide technology departments as appropriate such as the Ohio Learning Network, a consortium of Ohio's colleges and universities using technology to enhance distance learning and InfoOhio, the technology unit which supports the K-12 public education environment and OARnet which provides networking services state wide.Supervise a team of three network engineers and one programmer who are responsible for system administration, end-user support, resource security, software development, statistical reporting, and maintaining and updating databases including restoration and backup.
