Drove measurable uptick in newsletter opens, clicks, and conversions for our staff recruitment campaign.

This span comprises two temporary positions:As Content Developer working with iD’s VP of Operations Joy Meserve: updated internal training materials and migrated the content from old CMS to WordPress. Restructured information for logical flow; copy edited and fact-checked entire content (100+ pp); homogenized voice and style for ease of reading; found and addressed outdated or missing information; planned and executed simple navigation structure for ease of use; suggested procedure revisions and additions, penning new material as needed. When this temporary assignment neared its finish, Joy recommended me to Randall Polliard, Manager of Curriculum Development (CDev), for an additional position.As Quality Assurance (QA) for CDev: performed QA and copy editing on range of technical curriculum, from game development to film production to app programming and more. Fact-checked steps; copy edited for grammar, spelling, adherence to style guidelines, etc.; sought and addressed weak points in course material; vetted curriculum content and tone for age appropriateness; evaluated courses for cohesion, relevance, and (of course) FUN.

Wore a lot of hats as Associate Photo Editor at MAKE. Besides shepherding and curating incoming photo content and shooting fresh content for the magazine, performed many of the same functions for MAKE's other divisions (MakerShed, Maker Faire, Maker Education Initiative). Also enjoyed the opportunity to write something for nearly every issue during employ, plus the occasional blog post. Working with and without art direction, interpreted article content to conceive, execute, and deliver expressive and enticing photos, planning major photo shoots from the ground up as well as finding easy ways to idealize concepts when possible. Helped conceive and produce the growingly successful Make Believe web video series. Worked with creative director and business manager to rework the photo guidelines and procedures for our sales division.

Worked with bespoke costume/puppet designer Alexis Rudd in all aspects of business. Assisted in design and fabrication, including sculpting, molding, casting, fitting, patterning, stitching, project management, and final assembly. Revamped project estimation process and researched new materials and technologies, helping account for hidden losses and reduce costs/labor. Directed new marketing materials, also providing copy and photography. Managed office and sales, acting as primary customer service representative for queries, ordering, shipping, etc.

St. George, Utah (The Spectrum)

Created editorial graphics (including maps, charts, refer logos, page layouts, illustrations) for news and feature articles, writing captions and other supporting content for same. Worked with editors and reporters to determine need for and scope of graphics. Directed outside illustrators in creation of additional content. Frequently was assigned photography of news, features, and sports. Wrote and photographed features and reviews (both assigned and pitched) for the newspaper and associated property, St. George Magazine. Received two Society of Professional Journalists awards, for cover design and interior spread of SGM's October 2005 issue.

Worked as a regular freelancer with small production company on various short films and animations, eventually learning and/or executing nearly all aspects of filmmaking in the process: writing; set design and construction; prop direction, design, and construction; character design and voicing; stop-motion animation; puppetry; costuming; vector illustration and animation; photography; performance; non-linear editing; and lots of pure heavy lifting. Programs used: Illustrator, Photoshop, Flash, Final Cut Pro, Adobe After Effects.

Disneyland Resort

Coordinated Marketing/Special Events’ Media Host Team for opening of new Disneyland Resort (including Downtown Disney, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Disney's California Adventure). Assisted with recruiting, tracking, training, scheduling, and supervising 800+ Media Hosts from within Disney corporate ranks, each carefully matched to a media presence where their skill set would be most useful as a company representative and frontline marketing voice. One year contract position; was offered continuing work in another department, but declined in favor of preferable position outside company.
