First worked at Cleveland Metroparks in 2003 to participate in the Park's first deer and long-term vegetation study in response to deer browse and forest recovery trends. Cross trained other natural resources team members and outdoor education staff on how to collect primary data in Brecksville and Bedford Reservations, entered data in Excel, and presentations. Used GPS, DBH, and sensitive scientific equipment to measure deer browse and browse zones. Returned in 2008-2009 to train other Park staff, manage Park vehicle, and create new research sites to update the deer manual for biology interns. Also edited Cleveland Metropark's website natural resource content for accuracy and updates. We hiked hundreds of sanctioned and unsanctioned trails deep into the woods tiptoeing through poison ivy, thorny shrubs, and rivers to provided quality assurance and documentation for 400 vegetation research sites throughout Brecksville, Bedford, Bradley Woods, and Hinckley Reservations. I also helped plant mitigated wetland project in Brecksville and spray for invasive species in Rocky River.
