Shutting off and restoring water service primarily related to non-payment, locating the water service valve, using a steel stinger bar or “key” to twist and turn water valves to the on or off position, and posting or delivering notices. Reading individual water meters (350-650/day) to obtain water consumption data used for billing purposes by traveling along an assigned meter reading route (walking 5-10 miles), and using handheld/mobile devices for recording reads.Performing minor meter maintenance and recommending or recording modifications to routing and meter location information. Conducting field investigations for billing and customer service purposes by traveling to local investigation sites, confirming previously obtained meter reads, performing rudimentary tests to determine the operational status of the meter, operating basic water fixtures such as spigots and taps, observing and recording information about the site and relevant conditions, and assessing other information and data that may be need to complete an investigation. Installing endpoints to AMI-ready meters, properly programming the endpoints, checking signal strength, drilling lids and installing AMI antennas to improve signal strength, and troubleshooting non-working endpoints to restore functionality.Operating an automobile/truck, lifting or sliding meter lids or other obstructions weighing up to 80lbs, digging out/removing debris from meter boxes to a depth of 1foot using standard tools, noting/reporting malfunctioning/leaking/damaged/inoperative boxes/meters/registers, and answering customer questions.
