As an aircraft structural maintenance mechanic, I was involved in classifying damage to aircraft structures for repair to original strength, weight and contour. I removed, repaired and installed repaired or replacement parts. I aligned component structures. I balanced aircraft control surfaces and ensured that repairs are pressure, fluid and weather tight. I inspected damaged or deterioration and determined repair or replacement. Repaired or replaced plastic, fiberglass, bonded structures and bonded honeycomb assemblies. Cut, bent and installed hardware on all types of tubing. Sealed fabricated tubing assemblies, select components and fabricated and pull tested aircraft cable assemblies. Operated and maintained powered and nonpowered tools and equipment to include precision measurement equipment. Used spray equipment such as conventional spray guns, airless spray guns and electrostatic spray equipment. Used various methods of identifying metals, such as mechanical and chemical testing, in order to ensure that the proper corrosion treatment procedures were followed. Fix metal cables with swaging machine. Cutting, splicing, assembling, and repairing slings, nets, pendants, and other rigging gear. Hand signals to guide machinery such as cranes.
