Applied Research ScientistMoffitt Cancer Center Apr 2020 - Sep 2021- Developed a pipeline of geospatial analysis using Julia and R which was applied to 100+ tissue slides to determine spatial information that correlates with prognosis in kidney and breast cancers.- Developed a novel geospatial analysis tool to classify tissue slides by regions of interest using Python's scikit-learn. The model has been trained on 500+ tissue slides with accuracy upwards of 85%. The model has been trained on 500+ tissue slides with accuracy upwards of 85%. The idea resulted in a pending patent.- Built a partial differential equation-based model developed in C++ that described the impact of nutrient-limited environments on different cancer subtypes. Statistical analysis of the simulations were carried out in R and Approximate Bayesian Computation was used to estimate model parameters fit to in vitro data. This work led to a publication in the journal Cancer Research.- Modeling in ordinary and partial differential equations along with stochastic models (e.g. Gillespie, Fokker-Planck, Markov models).- Data visualization expertise with dimensionality reduction techniques carried out in MATLAB, Julia or Mathematica. Post Doctoral ResearchMoffitt Cancer Center Jul 2017 - Apr 2020Postdoctoral fellow in the Integrated Mathematical Oncology department Research Advisor: Dr. Philipp AltrockI develop mechanistic models that explain cancer growth and improve treatment protocols. Using patient data and optimization routines, I fit these models and then use the calibrated fits to investigate altered treatment schedules. -
Graduate Research AssistantArgonne National Laboratory Jul 2013 - Jun 2017Greater Chicago AreaWorked in the material science division in the high-temperature superconductor group. Helped develop CUDA-based GPU code and a python wrapper which numerically optimized the geometries of high-temperature superconductors that maximized the allowable current to be passed. I also did theoretical work on the theory of phase-slips in narrow superconducting channels subject to an external current. -

This placed an effective upper bound on the maximal current that a practical high-temperature superconductor could obtain. Show less -

Chess InstructorSelf-Employed Oct 2008 - May 2012Gainesville, Florida AreaTaught chess part-time to elementary and middle school kids while attending University of Florida. At one point had up to 10 students having 15-20 hours of lessons per week. Many of my students became nationally ranked in their respective age groups and one became K-3 state champion.I also helped organize chess tournaments and helped run a chess summer camp in 2009 and 2010.After graduation, I continued teaching chess to children in NYC from summer 2011 to may 2012. -
