Accomplished attorney and executive with extensive administrative experience in the public and private sectors. I have senior level leadership and regulatory experience at the state and municipal levels in government, as well as experience in private law firms and corporate management. Currently, I am the Corporation Counsel of the City of Gary, Indiana. In this role, I serve as the Chief Legal Officer of the city. As a member of the Mayor’s Cabinet, I advise the Mayor, and all municipal department leadership, including the Gary Police and Fire Departments on all matters relevant to the city and its operations. I supervise the Law Department staff attorneys and oversee all outside counsel for the city. During my tenure at the State of Indiana, I was appointed Chief Deputy Commissioner of the Indiana Department of Insurance. While there, I served as an Administrative Law Judge, presiding over licensing matters. I also managed the state’s role in the billion dollar Anthem Insurance Company demutualization, and ultimately Initial Public Offering/IPO. Other state positions include, being appointed Chief Counsel to the Indiana Attorney General, directing the Department’s Consumer Protection Division, and serving as Section Chief in the Attorney General’s Office. In the private sector, I practiced in the areas of real estate, business development, including MBE/WBE certifications, probate and estate planning at the firms of Doyle & Friedmeyer, P.C. and Coleman & Stevenson, P.C. In Indianapolis. In the corporate sector, I managed the Group Annuity Administration Department at One America (formerly American United Life Insurance Company) where I was responsible for managing a large staff and overseeing processing of benefits for the company’s enrolled participants. I received my Law Degree from the Indiana University, Robert H. McKinney School of Law.
