About Gregory Miles

Experienced Entrepreneur, COO, Manager, and Bioinformatics Scientist with 10+ years of expertise leadingtechnical projects and customer-facing initiatives. My passion for leading teams and solving complexproblems has driven my success in improving patient health and outcomes. As an entrepreneur, I am the co-founder of a stealth biotech startup aiming to develop a non-invasive blood test for detecting endometriosis. At Agilent Technologies, I manage two teams - one that is focused on clinical services projects/developing Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) pipelines and end-to-end workflows and the other that supports the Agilent Genomics Informatics software portfolio. My experience includes data mining and developing novel computational methods applied to functional genomics and clinical translational research. In addition, I co-founded Tranzend (a startup aiming to develop a diagnostic blood screening platform for cancer). Although the endeavor was unsuccessful, I served as COO, forming clinical partnerships, leading stakeholder meeting, and onboarding the advisory team. Additionally, I led clinical operations, bioinformatics, wet-lab execution, and regulatory/reimbursement work. Additional technical expertise includes NGS data analysis/pipeline development; QC/visualization; statistical modeling/machine learning; cloud computing, and software development. At Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, I helped drive research initiatives leading to grants, posters, and publications. I also led collaborative research teams - biologists, technicians, clinicians, and bioinformaticians - as part of a successful NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center designation renewal, including an “Outstanding” rating for Bioinformatics.Programming background: R, Java (Sun-certified), Python, Perl, C++, SQL, PHP, JSP, and Unix shell scripting – NGS expertise: Whole genome/exome (SNV/CNV/SV calling), Single-Cell, RNA-Seq, and Methyl-Seq.
