I provide GIS services for city and county governments in an 8-county region of Central Kentucky. My primary responsibilities involve editing the state's road centerline shapefile maintained by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) and working with local water and sewer systems to map their projects and existing infrastructure into a shapefile maintained by the Kentucky Infrastructure Authority (KIA). Other recurring duties of mine include creating maps for comprehensive plans and grants, creating and editing zoning maps, and creating interactive online maps for an online maps portal that I built myself. I've also gotten to work on many special projects such as the Fort Knox Compatible Use Plan, redrawing electoral precinct boundaries, and creating broadband internet status maps.

I have shopped and delivered over 1,000 grocery orders from Meijer and Target in Muncie, Avon, and Whitestown/Zionsville. I take care of all aspects of the grocery order such as picking out each item, communicating with the Shipt member about out of stock items via text or phone call, checking out, and delivering to the member's address.

This internship provided a well-balanced mix of field and office work. Regarding field work, I learned how to use ArcGIS Collector by updating PASER ratings for Carmel's road and trail system, updating streetlight attribute data, and creating a web map of Carmel's 139 roundabouts with brand new image attachments and updated attribute data. Regarding office work, I created a web app of grassy areas the city mows, began a story map illustrating the unique art and landscaping found in Carmel's roundabouts, and began redesigning the city's street sign inventory.
