About Gregory Pennington

I am a graduate from Full Sail University (Sept. 3, 2010) with a bachelors degree in video game development. Before I came to the school I was programming games on my own using Blitz Basic and Blitz3D. I was also in the Javascript club in my 9th grade of high school and I helped co-teach visual basic in my advanced computers class in the 12th grade.I have programmed in C++, C#, Intel Assembly, Actionscript 3.0, XML, JSON, Javascript, Java, BlitzBasic, Blitz3D, Visual Basic, HTML, CSS, Mel Script, LUA, GLSL, HLSL, Objective-C, Python, PHP, kotlin, haxe, react.     We had to create a full 3D game in 5 months while working with a team of 12 people: 5 programmers, 4 artists, and 3 internal producers. I was the Rendering/Special Effects lead for team, I wrote the rendering and special effects engines and helped others out with rendering issues. Some other tasks were creating the resource manager which handled the loading/recycling/deleting of all game resources, utilizing bounded volume hierarchies for collision detection, creating a Maya 3D exporter for the visual effects, and using Mel Script to make level exporting easier. The game was rendered with OpenGL and written in C++.

    This is a game I worked on for my Structures of Game Production class for about 2 months on a team of 4 programmers. The basic description of the game is its a turn-based RPG. The game was written in C++ and the tools were written in C#, we used FMOD for the audio and DirectShow for the cutscenes and the game itself used Direct3D to render everything. I was responsible for the Particle editor/system, code profiler that exported to an excel file showing detailed information about functions being called, animation engine, HLSL pixel shaders, cinematics engine using DirectShow, combo system, battle system, combo wheel and hud artist/designer.
