I am Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering with research focus on the management and control of high-capacity battery systems, such as found in electric vehicles. I have published two textbooks on this subject, built a Coursera specialization on Algorithms for Battery Management Systems, and supervise graduate courses in these subjects at the Colorado Springs and Boulder campuses of the University of Colorado System. I am Director of the GATE Center of Excellence in Innovative Drivetrains in Electric Automotive Technology Education, co-Director of the UCCS High-Capacity Battery Research and Test Laboratory, and am an affiliate faculty member of the Center for Advancing Sustainability through Powered Infrastructure for Roadway Electrification (ASPIRE). My recent research interests cover physics-based modeling, state estimation, and control of lithium-ion battery systems.
