The physicians of The Emergency Group, Inc. (TEG) manage two of the busiest Emergency Departments and Trauma Centers in the state of Hawaii, 24-7-365. Since 1973, we have been the only group chosen by The Queen's Medical Center to provide this service at the main hospital on Punchbowl Street in Honolulu, and at the West O'ahu hospital which opened on May 20, 2014. We were also the first group in Hawaii to use only physicians specialized in Emergency Medicine. Today, TEG is viewed as Hawaii's leader of emergency medicine. Our physicians handle the task of treating the most serious emergencies and work closely with all sub-specialists. We also work in tandem with Emergency Medical Services (EMT & MICT paramedic) programs, often supervising care even before patients arrive. In addition, our physicians are heavily involved in teaching Resident physicians from various training programs and medical students of the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine.We remain committed to providing the highest quality of care for anyone presenting to our Emergency Departments.

The School’s basic mission is to teach and train high-quality physicians, biomedical scientists, and allied health workers for Hawai’i and the Pacific. Its major purpose is to provide an opportunity for a medical education previously unavailable to residents of Hawai’i and other Pacific nations. Chris McBain's Section on Cellular and Synaptic Physiology, investigates the development and regulation of cortical excitability, in particular glutamatergic and GABAergic synaptic transmission and plasticity in the hippocampal formation. The Section investigates mechanisms underlying the differential regulation of transmitter release at functionally divergent presynaptic terminals along a common axon, the roles of ionotropic and metabotropic glutamatergic and cholinergic receptors in controlling cell excitability, and bi-directional synaptic plasticity at both inhibitory and excitatory axon terminals.

The Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rescue Squad is a philanthropically operated organization that provides state of the art emergency medical, fire, and rescue services to the Bethesda-Chevy Chase area and surrounding Maryland communities. The Rescue Squad also provides emergency medical services to upper Northwest D.C.

Tulane EMS is a student-run, nonprofit ambulance service based on the Uptown campus of Tulane University. We offer emergency medical services, transport, and treatment to New Orleans area hospitals free of charge for any Tulane or Loyola student, staff, faculty, guest or affiliate. TEMS operate through Tulane University’s Uptown Student Health Center. All of our members are nationally-certified EMTs and are thoroughly trained to treat the community.
