• Designed and manufactured model tuna peduncle and tail assemblies using SolidWorks, Stratasys 3D printers, and CNC machining.
• Tested the assemblies in a flow tank 1DOF swimming test to determine the effects of joint stiffness and maximum rotation angle on performance using swimming speed and economy as primary metrics.
• Designed and built a frictionless flow tank test platform and programmed the control system in LabVIEW, which drove servo motor inputs and collected torque sensor and laser positional data, later processed in MATLAB.

• Aided senior researchers on a previous MURI project funded by ONR to design a fast, but highly maneuverable autonomous underwater vehicle by reproducing the swimming mechanics of rays
• Improved existing structural components and designed new pieces for a robotic manta ray
• Programmed the robot’s autonomous control system and conducted field tests of the device
