This foundation underscores my commitment to integrating engineering principles with biomedical applications, laying the groundwork for my multifaceted career.Throughout my professional journey, I've seamlessly navigated between academia and industry, from research fellowships at the National University of Singapore to pivotal roles as Chief Scientific Officer at Kent Ridge Laboratories, jMedGuard and jMedtech. Maintaining a strong connection to academia has been a cornerstone of my journey, driven by a passion for teaching and mentorship. As an academic at heart, I've had the privilege of guiding aspiring professionals through various initiatives, including mentoring participants in programs like the SGUnited Traineeship Programmes and serving as an Adjunct Lecturer at Nanyang Technological University.In the industry, I've played pivotal roles in co-founding companies and spearheading the research, development, and commercialization of diverse products, spanning from medical devices to cosmetic goods and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG). At Kent Ridge Laboratories, I leveraged my expertise in tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, biomaterials, and biomechanics to pioneer innovative wound-healing solutions. Leading teams with a focus on innovation, I oversaw the formulation, marketing, and successful launch of regenerative skincare lines. Notably, our efforts were recognized with accolades like the prestigious "Best Skincare Anti-Ageing Serum" award by Beauty Insider, Singapore, underscoring our commitment to excellence in product development and market recognition.Transitioning to jMedGuard, I applied my expertise to lead the development of household antimicrobial coatings derived from extensive knowledge in medical device coating—an effort crucial during the COVID-19 pandemic. Beyond product development, I navigated supply chain challenges, scaled up production of coating solutions and sanitizers, and successfully launched FMCG products for both B2B and B2C markets. Demonstrating adeptness in marketing, distribution, and sales, I utilized digital and traditional retail channels to penetrate markets effectively.
