Hello people. I`m 23 years old and I work as a stock associate for Ross Dress for Less. As far back as I can remember, cooking and learning about the culinary arts have been a favorite hobby of mine. I also have a great fondness for science. Biology is my favorite scientific discipline. It taught me how organisms work and how we affect our community and environment. Zoology would tie in with biology since it studies the behavior, physiology, and interactions with animals. Chemistry is all about precision to me. It helps explains natural phenomena in a structured and elaborate manner. In high school, I studied food science for two years and received my food service management license. I had the opportunity to learn more about cooking and where and how food is distributed, grown, and sold through agricultural science. After taking food science I have been exposed to new possibilities surrounding food service and I would like to learn what I can take from the classroom to a career. In 2014 I received my first job through the youth advocate program the following summer. Youth Advocate placed me at the Litehouse Whole Food Grill as a cook. While working there, I found out how critical communication and organizational skills are in the workplace.After the youth advocate program ended, I worked at Waldo Cooney`s Pizza as a pizza maker. While working, I attended Kennedy-King College with the plan to transfer to Illinois State University for a degree in Biology. I did successfully transfer to Illinois State University, but it wasn’t for me. Since then I’ve gone back to Kennedy-King and finished the classes required to obtain my associate`s degree in science with a major in biology. After that I started taking career training courses in the IT track at Year Up Chicago. I’ve always had a fondness of technology, though I’m not skilled with computers would like to be. I hope Year Up will steer me in the right direction and give me a promising career.
