I am a visual communications designer, working across the disciplines of graphic design, web design, art direction and creative direction in branding since 2010. I am currently Head of Brand & Design at Stitch, a tech startup based in Cape Town, South Africa, fast becoming the key developer of infrastructure for African fintech products. For the 4+ years prior, I held the position of Senior Designer at Luxury Branding, specialising in strategy-led design in the luxury hospitality industry with brands including Belmond, C Resorts (by Constance Hotels & Resorts), Cottonmill (the UK’s first Private Members’ Spa), Annassurra and Taj Resorts Hotels Palaces Safaris.I also served as Design Director for maverick hospitality firm Kingham Leigh between 2018 and January 2021, developing and designing new hospitality concepts and brands.Educated in graphic design with a passion for typography, I am constantly seeking to learn new skills and am interested in exploring the ways in which illustration and motion graphics can further express and communicate ideas. While I have an obsession for detail, my focus is on the role design plays as a part of a greater system of communications and business strategy to help form and foster connections between brands and their audiences. I believe that design is at its strongest when it is honest, memorable and appropriate.In addition to my career as a designer, I have a background in music theory and performance – classical and contemporary. It is to this that I attribute my approach to problem solving as one of informed intuition, much like improvisation routed in practice and understanding of theory. I continue to enjoy making music as a multi-instrumentalist.
