I manage the research communications group at RAND, ensuring that research publications and summary products hit home with policymakers and other audiences through clear writing, sound structure and effective communications strategy. Formerly, I worked as editor in chief at the Silicon Valley Business Journal, leading coverage of breaking news and managing enterprise stories. The SVBJ was a return to journalism after two years at a start-up, My Broker Donates. The goal there? To make sure non-profits get a financial return on the massive investments they make in our communities. Prior to that I was the lead editor at TelevisionWeek, a trade publication, and served as Los Angeles bureau chief for Bloomberg News.Through the years, I've developed digital communications chops helping corporate and nonprofit clients create branding, marketing and communications initiatives that motivate audiences to act. I write, edit and analyze across multiple media: print, Web sites, social media and video. My deep journalism experience and digital proficiencies, including a Google Analytics Individual Qualification, have enabled me to help clients articulate, measure and reach their communications goals.My first job was working as a paperboy, I was a high school newspaper nerd, and after law school left the legal profession to get back into the newsroom.
