As a Senior Architect at Grossmueller's Design, I am continuing to do the production work as the Architect of Record, and beginning to take on more of a leadership role. I am taking an active role in project management, making sure that our projects are meeting our deadlines and that our small staff is appropriately deployed on our myriad of projects. I am training new staff members in our firm's drawing standard and working on Quality Control. I am becoming involved in sales, marketing, and social media management. Finally, I continue to work on process improvement, to better allocate our firm's time toward serving our clients, rather than doing repetitive tasks.

I achieved licensure in January of 2019 and became the Architect of Record for Grossmueller's Design. My responsibilities grew from assisting in many tasks to leading in them. Creating concept drawings, creating cost estimates and project budgets, presenting designs to clients, creating construction documents, permit sets, and construction contracts. I run trade days with contractors and collect bids from subcontractors. I respond to contractor RFI's. I also became the person in charge of handling permits for our projects, and have completed strenuous and lengthy reviews within the District of Columbia, shepherding projects through DCRA, the CFA, the Historic Board, DOEE, and DDOT. I've also successfully pulled permits in MD and VA jurisdictions.

Worked as an Architectural Intern for a Residential Design Build Firm. As an intern my duties included measuring existing homes and drawing them using CAD Software, assist with creating conceptual drawings, assist with running contractor trade days, assist in gathering subcontractor bids, assist with creating construction documents and permit drawings, and coordinate with contractors during construction. My projects spanned everything from single bathrooms to full gut renovations with significant additions.

Worked as an Architectural Intern on projects spanning single family residential, multi family residential, hospitality, food service, corporate interiors, and retail. Responsibilities spanned the life of a project. Involved in Conceptual Design drawings and presentations, entitlements, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, and Construction Administration. Also, involved in consultant coordination, as-built documentation, code research, and permitting. Provided support to the Project Architects in managing schedules, consultants, presentations, and documentation. Helped manage Construction Administration of a small sales trailer with Clark Construction.

Work as an Architectural Intern on a variety of high end residential homes. Tasks spanned the life of a project, from initial site studies, code research, and as-built measurements through Conceptual Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, and Construction Administration. Work with the Architect of Record to assemble complete permit sets for submittal. Work with the Interior Design team to coordinate finishes. Provide support for the Project Manager, including design clarifications and client change orders. Recently, manage smaller remodel projects in terms of timeline, conceptual presentations, and construction documents.

I started working for ADA in my second year at Virginia Tech. I began with three tasks, keeping updated an accessible map of campus, reviewing proposed new buildings for compliance with the 1991 and then the 2010 Americans with Disabilities Act, and helping manage a $100,000 fund for improvements to existing campus structures. In order to keep the access map updated, I utilized an autocad document with a GIS basemap, and I would personally survey campus in order to get the most accurate data on accessible routes. Reviewing the proposed buildings required me to obtain a highly comprehensive understanding of architectural drawings, the ADA itself, and how to read code documents. My part in managing the renovation fund was to, in the course of surveying the campus, come up with new projects that could make campus more accessible and to conduct justification studies for these new projects. In my third year, the ADA department was presented with the opportunity to transition our static autocad map to a cloud based interactive GIS map. We worked with other interested stakeholders to create what is now the campus interactive map. This new map combines multiple data sets to create a wayfinding system around campus. I worked at Green Chimneys for the summer after my fourth year of University. In my role as Director of Waterfront, I began the summer by updating the facility rules and Emergency Action Plan. I worked with my staff, comprised of 5 professional lifeguards from countries around the world, to create a waterfront that would be safe and fun. During the camp session, I was in charge of managing the waterfront and ensuring that safety standards were upheld. Thanks to the efforts of my staff, I am happy to say that we had a summer without any major incidents.

In the Spring of 2014, I participated in the Virginia Tech Chicago Studio, a 15 week combined work and study program. The first 10 weeks is group based exploratory work that confronts architecture on an urban scale with projects in Chicago. There is a heavy basis on analysis and rigorous understanding of context, in conjunction with practical but innovative architecture. My project focused on integrating McCormick place, America's largest convention center, with the surrounding neighborhood, in order to create a move vibrant region. The last 5 weeks of the semester were a professional internship at Cannon Design. I worked on a student center in nearby Palatine Illinois. For this project, I gave design input, created solar radiation and shading studies, set up a visualization method, and created a highly detailed site model to be used for both massing studies and final presentation.

I started here as a lifeguard after my sophomore year of high school. I worked four summers as a lifeguard, followed by one summer as the head lifeguard, then a final summer as the director of swimming lessons. As a lifeguard, I was responsible for patron safety, as well as park cleanliness. With the promotion to head lifeguard, I undertook management of the other lifeguards and coordination with the director of the park while still saving lives. Finally, as director of swim instruction, I was responsible for managing a series of Red Cross Learn to Swim lessons, taught by myself and several other instructors. This was the most responsibility I had at this job. Over the 6 summers I worked at Candlewood lake, I saved 8 lives and taught hundred of children to swim. I was also awarded the Red Cross Hero of Western Connecticut for one of my rescues.
