In addition to my consulting work, I am also teaching an online class on Excel topics for fundraisers and hosting a monthly webinar/call-in program on various fundraising topics. Information about the program can be found on the FUNDSVCS and APRA Relationship Management email chains.

I help Raiser’s Edge clients to optimize their database by implementing data clean-up techniques and creating reporting structures, including dashboards and SQL queries. I also facilitate data imports into Raiser’s Edge, and serve as an outsource for database administration, as well as put together annual and analytical reports for my clients. In addition, I advise my business partner Marianne Pelletier on data analysis, and together with Marianne teach an online data analytics course.

Supervised the Prospect Research and Prospect Management departments at RIT. Was responsible for all prospect development activities for the RIT Development Office. Served as liaison between prospect research/management and the development team.

Direct the prospect research department at Florida International University. Supervise five full-time and two student prospect researchers. Administer prospect management tools and portfolio management. Perform data analysis on the FIU database of 300,000 records to determine propensity to make donations and capacity to give. Represent the department at development and gift officer meetings, and supervise the FIU Principal Gifts meetings. Bring new ideas to the department, and design new programs and software for the development office. Through predictive modeling, identify new prospects for development officers.

Maintained the Niagara University Alumni and Donor Database. Generated all reports from the database, including weekly and monthly giving reports, and the quarterly report for the Boards of Trustees and Advisors. Managed the offices of Gift Accountancy, Donor Relations, and Prospect Research. Worked with University Accounting to reconcile donation accounts. Analyzed data to create policy for donor stewardship, and to improve office return on investment. Through continual database improvement over a period of three months, reduced returned mail by over 35% and reduced failed phone calls from 40% to 28%.

Was instructor of IDS 520 (Fundraising Fundamentals), a graduate seminar course covering the basics of fundraising, campaign, and non-profit management. Syllabus included the fundamentals of campaign management, non-profit law and ethics, advancement services, prospect research and management, data analytics, cultivation and solicitation of major gifts, methods of mass fundraising, and grant writing. Course involved real-world applications of fundraising theory and techniques, and was designed for students and non-degree candidates who are working in or plan to work at non-profit organizations.

Was solely responsible for prospect, donor, and alumni research supporting the Office of Institutional Advancement, the Office of the President, and the deans of Niagara University’s four academic colleges. Created stand-alone reporting software (“the Cashboard”) with VBA and XML to use with Raiser’s Edge, which is used for all data analytics and most development reporting. Regularly used VBA and XML code to write programs for gift reporting, development officer action reports, creation of prospect portfolios, moves management reporting, alumni events co-ordination, mailing list and phonathon segmentation, and data analysis.

Managed and administered the alumni and development database in Raiser’s Edge including all gift and pledge entry and verification. Supervised data entry of student, parent, and alumni information. Maintained data integrity. Provided accurate and timely information to ensure gift stewardship letters and reports were completed expediently.

Led efforts to update alumni data, standardize entries, repair errors, and eliminate technical problems on the St. Edmund Hall Old Members’ database. Created, organized, and distributed alumni update forms by postal mail and e-mail. Researched “lost” alumni through the use of the Internet, printed resources and proprietary databases. Produced database reports for use by the Development Office, the St. Edmund Hall Association, and the Principal’s Office, using AppealMaster database software.

Created and maintained the Historical Register database, the foundation of the Alumni Register at Jesus College as used by its current Development Office, and standardized Old Member data administration.
