Working closely with PI, Kaddurah-Daouk and together with a team (3 program managers, 2 data managers I helped manage a portfolio of grants funding three scientific consortia (Alzheimer’s Disease Metabolomics Consortium (ADMC), Mood Disorders Precision Medicine Consortium (MDPMC) and Alzheimer’s Gut Microbiome Project (AGMP)). Management involved interactions with over 200 scientists and staff in over 40 academic institutions. I was responsible for managing both pre-award and post-award processes, which included but was not limited to publications and tracking over 40,000 samples, associated datasets and status of analyses across consortia.Strategic Planning and Project Coordination:- Evaluated and captured current practices, procedures and processes to identify best-practices as well as bottlenecks to provide solutions in real time. Facilitated creation and implementation of strategic plan and systems to accommodate growth.- Developed and implemented online private collaboration spaces (knowledge portals) related to consortia's extensive grant portfolio. Trained other program and data managers on the use of such spaces.- Worked closely with data manager and lead analysts to organize documents and datasets for analysis, including the creation and updating to meet the new 2023 NIH requirement for a data management plan.Previous experience includes:- Troubleshooting communications between Principal Investigator legal counsel, budget, procurement and compliance officers to help solve complex agreement, subcontracting and contracting issues.- Coordinated communication between Principal Investigator and various internal and external media specialists- Coordinated the flow of research from sample delivery, biochemical and genetic analysis to interpretation of results from multiple teams of research scientists at multiple institutions around the world on tight timelines.

Resilient Communities Initiative was founded to support the Work that Reconnects in the SouthEast. We organized a 3 + 7 day Intensive Workshop with Joanna Macy in Mebane, NC, May 25 - June 3, 2012.

At this small business start up, I was charged with documenting, refining and executing on existing sales and marketing processes. I also consulting on other aspects of a start-up business, serving as the primary sounding board for the owner. The result: By the start of my 3rd month in training, we are on target to exceed our sales goal of $120,000 per quarter.As the Sales Consultant, I initiated and executed a Google+ and Google Local project to increase our web ranking. The result: Google search ranking performance went from the 3rd page of links to the 1st page.

I have been charged with the task of developing and coordinating the STEM initiative at the middle school. The vision is to become recognized as an innovative NC STEM school. Over the past year, I have:1. Study successful STEM school implementation models and collaborate with Principal to write a STEM School Strategic Plan.2. Create and implement Strategy 1: Standalone STEM courses for grades 6-8. Including a Project Lead the Way (Engineering) Course called Design and Modeling.3. Implement Strategy 2: Cross-integration of curricula by: a. Identify and select providers for STEM PD (Project-Based Learning). b. Establish and facilitate weekly team meetings for cross-curricular integration.4. Research and purchase inventory to stock a classroom Maker Space.5. Design a STEM based/Maker Course for 6th grade.6. Build a network of community contacts including outside guest speakers, SMEs, University and Museum contacts and a STEM Leadership Team.7. Planned and coordinated a STEM Sacred Spaces Symposium and Student Exhibition.8. Create and lead an after-school Maker Club to build a 3D printer.9. Supervise students during robotics, coding electives and international interactive video conferences with students in Doha, Qatar.

I created a challenge-based course that integrates the real-world practices of authentic science research, sustainability and entrepreneurship. The course is a result of my personal interests in project-based learning, engineering design, authentic science research and lean start-up entrepreneurship. My approach to teaching stems from my life experience as a published protein biochemist, a consultant to a local start-up, a community organizer and 15 years as a fully licensed science teacher. Both my degrees (Bachelors and Masters) are in science. I do not have a formal degree in "Education."​ I see my science background as a strong asset. Nevertheless, I do read and incorporate state-of- the-art research-based learning and teaching practices, which I have culled from top Graduate Schools of Education. In particular, just to name a few, I've read and used practices taught at Harvard (Visible Thinking Project), MIT (Eric Mazur's Just-In-Time and Peer Instruction), Berkeley (Berkeley Evaluation and Assessment Research) and from multiple institutions that are conducting research related to student mastery of the abstract concepts of science.

Volunteer - Advisory Committee at Farmstead VillageThe Advisory Committee of Farmstead Village is composed of the heads of several non-profits. local governmental agencies, architects, concerned citizens and elders. The group has come together around a vision of a multi-generational urban village where elders may age in place, in a location that has access to a variety of services within walking distance and where neighbors value friendship as one of the highest values within the community.-----

Piedmont Aquaponics is an early stage startup in the process of customer development for creating a triple-bottom line business that will support the growth of local healthy food production systems in the Triangle.

As a member of several teams I participated in the design, planning and implementation of student-centered project-based curricula. Designs included interdisciplinary projects involving math, science, engineering, social studies and language arts focused on China as well as themes focused more specifically on STEM and 7th grade science.

Developing a semester-long modular biofuels curriculum for secondary education.

Designed, planned and implemented biotechnology curricula for 6th, 7th and 8th grade. Wrote grants that were successfully funded. Made connections with NC BioNetwork and the Biofuels Center of North Carolina.

Design and deliver an honors biology program at a startup "early college" school funded by the Gates foundation.

Authentic Science Research in the High Schools Teacher - facilitated high school students through a three year program designed to teach the fundamental skills needed to conduct background literature searches, find and land a scientific mentor, as well as complete the requirements for national and international science competitions.

This is a fantastic school that teaches young men how to live lives of integrity. I had the honor of teaching here for five years. The Jesuit motto: "Men and Women for Others" has become the foundation of why I continue to teach. I hope to inspire the next generation of thinkers to use their creative and analytical gifts and talents in service to the world. While I was at Xavier, I taught Physical Science, Chemistry and Biology.

Computer automation of clinical amino acid analyses of physiological fluids. Routine maintenance of HPLCs, GC/MS and other laboratory instrumentation. Supervision and training of technical staff. Design and documentation of SOPs. Streamlining of reporting and tracking of clinical samples to increase efficiency and throughput, which increased 10-fold during my tenure.

The protein sequencing core was the first biomolecular core facility for the University of Cincinnati Medical Center's Research Community. My role was to prepare and analyze research samples for purity, amino acid composition, quantitation and protein sequencing. Additionally, I handled all the routine maintenance of all the laboratory equipment which included a first generation protein sequencor, HPLCs, chromatography and data management software.
