Co-Recipient of the Donald Janssen Dike Award For Excellence in Undergraduate Research in 2020. Thesis: Engineering and Financial assessment of a modular Direct Air Capture and Carbon Sequestration (DACCS) facility deployed in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The design focuses on utilizing nascent solid sorbent technology deployed in modular system optimizing for low-cost. Assessed financial viability using an Net Present Value (NPV) model to assess the cashflow and the Levelized Cost of Removing 1 ton of CO2. Two cases were considered: (a) facility powered solely by a co-located solar PV plant and (b) facility powered by co-located solar PV plant and combined cycle natural gas (CCNG) plant. The assessment concluded that current supply chain minus sorbent technology can support such a facility and the lowest levelized cost per ton of CO2 captured and sequestered was $660/tCO2 which was the facility powered by solar PV and CCNG plants. Search and Rescue Robot: Designed and built a search and rescue robot that successfully completed an obstacle course which included a wall and a final autonomous depositing a medical kit at a light source. I lead the manufacturing including creation of the custom parts needed for the tread 'arms' for scaling the wall using CAD software and CNC, lathe, and mill machines.
