Greg is a Principal leading Bohlin Cywinski Jackson’s San Francisco studio. his human-centered design philosophy springs from a belief that powerful architecture must elevate the user experience, lift the spirit, and foster community. At the core of Greg’s design approach is a desire to understand his clients' architectural needs—both functional and aspirational—and synthesize them with a deep understanding of the project’s particular circumstance: its place, culture, and climate, to create exceptional buildings that resonate. This philosophy extends our practice’s reputation for sensitivity to landscape and context, the nature of people and culture, and innovative use of material in response to circumstance. Greg is a versatile designer, and his approach balances thorough analysis and research with curiosity and intuition by addressing fundamental human issues in design. He believes that architecture has the power to improve the lives of all those who experience it—bringing people together for common purpose, and helping shape organizational culture through shared experience.Greg excels at designing at a variety of scales, from large complex institutional buildings to small, experimental mobile retail environments. He has designed more than a million square feet of workplace for leading companies, civic organizations, and academic institutions, as well as many smaller scale projects, from extraordinary private residences to transformative retail and hospitality projects for notable brands that express a client’s brand and ethos. The throughline for this range of work is an approach springing from a carefully considered occupant experience—one that delights all the senses and contributes to resonating, emotionally powerful architecture balanced by technical rigor and execution.
