Gregory O’Connell currently holds the position of CEO at the O’Connell Organization, a family business concentrating on real estate investment, development, and property management, primarily in Brooklyn, New York. After attending the State University of New York at Geneseo, Greg, a lifelong Brooklyn resident, immediately dedicated himself to the family trade. Mentored by his father, who founded the company circa 1967, he has refined his skills in every aspect of real estate, thereby making a fundamental impact on his business and the areas where its properties are located.Over his real estate career, Gregory has exponentially decreased vacancy rates while increasing profitability for the family’s sizable real estate portfolio. Today, the O'Connell Organization's Brooklyn properties experience little to no vacancy. Greg has worked to secure a diverse commercial tenant base that fosters coexistence rather than competition, a principle that he believes is the healthiest form of economic growth within communities. In addition to his lead role in the commercial real estate aspect of the family business, Gregory oversees the management of the O'Connell Organization's 500-plus residential units in Brooklyn, NY. Since 2012 Gregory has been a featured speaker at TerraCRG’s Brooklyn Real Estate Summit, ONLY BKLYN Conference, and The Brooklyn Real Estate Roundtable and has spoken alongside Mayor Bloomberg on the heels of the devastating impact of Hurricane Sandy. He has judged the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce's Annual Building Brooklyn Awards numerous times, been named as a "Rising Star" at the Brooklyn Spectator's 40 Under 40 Awards, and has volunteered as a member of various not-for-profit boards, including the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, The Brooklyn Greenway Initiative, the Red Hook Initiative, and Southwest Brooklyn Industrial Development Corporation.
