Projects completed in this role range in cost from $2 Million to $53 Million and require concurrent management. Also apply project management skills in all phases of project engineering from conception to closeout. Project Engineer for Innocrys and PCU Restart projects, acted as liaison between BP Chemicals and Jacobs Engineering with dual offices in Texas City and Houston, Texas. Worked with the Innocrys project team to develop the best process to integrate the Innocrys project with the operating unit. Managed the work schedule for completing field tie-ins, generated job packages and managed the MOC’s for the field work. Collected soil boring samples to ensure that footings for the new support structure were sufficient. Worked with operations to develop procedures for making tie-ins. Collaborated with Engineering Authority at Texas City to provide Jacobs Engineering with the most current engineering practices. Reviewed documentation related to newly fabricated equipment. Managed interface between Jacobs Engineering and BP technical teams, assisted with any activities on the project that required project engineering support, and input information into Tr@ction with relations to near misses and incidents that occurred during the field installation. Delivered best practices and mitigations for lessons learned on previous projects and effectively prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities. Provided leadership to fellow BP employees and contractors toward achieving the goal of no accidents, no harm to people, and no damage to the environment. Participated in the PHSSER, HAZiD, and Constructability study as well as in P&ID reviews. Responsibilities associated with PCU restart included: managing the inspections of the mechanical integrity of the 18 fin fan units, seven shell and tube exchangers, and the emergency generator. Tested the operability of the unit’s DCS system, several control valves and transmitters as well as the breakers in the MCC. Responsible for securing the unit per abandonment in place procedure at end of project in December, 2014.

Mechanical Engineer in the Reliability Department assigned to maintain and improve the safe operation of the mechanical equipment utilized by the Cooper River #2 unit. The Cooper River #2 unit comprises of an Oxidation and PTA section, which produced purified terepthalic acid. In this position, I worked as a project manager for smaller capital projects, served as the project manager of the 10 year HVAC Replacement Project for the facility, analyzed seals and bearing failures for the pumps in the unit, determined causes for failures by performing RCFA’s and ensured the completion of any resulting action items. I also assisted with the preparation of the turnaround work list, performed flexibility analysis on pipes utilizing the Caepipe 6.61 program, worked with the Unit Process Engineer to achieve optimum unit performance, designed piping systems per B 31.3 Process Piping code, recommended inspection frequencies and repair methods for relief valves, as well as mentored and trained mechanical engineer new hires as assigned to the engineering department.

Mechanical Engineer assigned to provide technical service for the utilities department. This department encompasses two high pressure boilers which supplies steam to the two operating units, several air compressors which provide utility and instrument air to the operating units and a Waste Treatment section that treats the waste produced by the units. I worked with the boiler inspector and the state of SC to extend the internal inspection interval from one year to every three years per the Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation Boiler Safety Program, Coordinated tasks with the Unit Process Engineer to make sure that each new design was created to optimize the efficiency of the process, designed piping systems that met or exceeded the BP specifications to ensure equipment integrity, was responsible for maintaining knowledge of the ASME and API specifications required to successfully design/repair piping and vessels, served as Project Manager of various construction and demolition projects, and appointed Safety Team Champion for the Maintenance and Reliability Department, emphasizing the importance of thoroughly planning a task before starting a job or project. Developed preventative maintenance schedules, along with the Maintenance Planner, to reduce the opportunity for an unplanned failure of specified portions of equipment, responsible for updating all related documentation in SAP, participated as a key member of the Unit HAZOP/LOPA team, which analyses all potential hazards that may develop while the unit is operating, and make recommendations to correct any area of deficiency.

Participated in several HAZOPS discussing the hazards and dangers of implementing new pieces of equipment or making modifications to the existing process. Appointed Safety Team Representative, responsible for maintaining the company’s standards of safety for my shift, including increasing awareness of the EPA and OSHA changes that directly affect our department. Represented the Cooper River #2 unit on the BP Plant Strategy Committee to set the goals and pathway Cooper River wanted to achieve for the upcoming year.
