Profile bio

About Gregory Rumph

Emergency Physician currently practicing at UTMB Galveston, a Level One Trauma center. In addition to patient care, I also continue to supervise and teach residents and medical students on rotation in the emergency department. Administratively I serve as Associate Medical Director, responsible for quality and implementation of hospital goals for the emergency department. Regional Medical Director for innovative delivery of emergency care at the Texas Department of Corrections, with onsite emergency care within the prisons themselves. This novel approach for TDCJ reduces prisoner transport by delivering care onsite, reducing time to treatment, and reducing risks incurred during transfer.Previously, I served as Medical Director for Priority 1 Air Rescue, which provided air medical services to offshore drilling and support vessels in the Gulf of Mexico, with extended transport times. Also I worked for Baylor College of Medicine, in the Ben Taub Hospital Emergency Center, during the transition from "silo" health care to an integrated emergency services model, and establishment of the respected Emergency Medicine residency program. While at Baylor, I also served as a member of the Section of General Internal Medicine, working as a Hospitalist Attending Physician, teaching and supervising Internal Medicine residents and rotating medical students. My formative years as a physician were during my residency at LSU New Orleans Charity Hospital prior to, during, and after Hurricane Katrina. This astounding natural and social disaster challenged those of us who continued to train at LSU to provide care in austere conditions with limited resources, and to stretch our abilities to fill gaps left in the collapsed medical and social infrastructure of New Orleans. No better training or set of experiences could have been obtained except by staying and being part of the recovery and rebuilding process.Specialties: Emergency Medicine - board certified ABEMInternal Medicine, lapsed, ABIM

Listed skills include Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Medicine, Board Certified, and 2 others.
