I love teaching. I love working with high school students who are trying to circumnavigate life.I also enjoy working on curriculum. I helped create the curriculum for the English department at my current school. My hopes are that more teachers can teach material that reflects the school demographic instead of the teacher demographic.Currently I am spending more time trying help the mental health of Black students in majority Black school districts. I hope that I can move more teachers away from the mantra of tough love and tough teaching simply because students are Black. Black students should be afforded the same basic kindness and compassion as white students in white majority districts.I have taught 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade. At my previous school I was the department chair for the English department. I have taught every level at the high school setting from remedial to advanced placement. I have always worked in majority Black and Latino school districts. In my current position as an English teacher at Winslow Township High School I have taken on many roles that aligned with inclusive education. I assisted with the presentation of the African American Culture Club at Winslow High School. I have taken part in the school leadership committee and the climate change committee as well in order to bring more inclusivity to our district. When I am not teaching English to high school students I am traveling with my family. I have visited 36 states so far and have a goal to reach all 50. I have traveled to three continents, multiple countries and many islands. My favorite American city to travel to is Chicago.
