I am an expert in automobile equipment safety and road safety, and a leading voice in Canada in respect of the deployment of connected and automated vehicles. As Senior Director of Safety, Innovation and Regulation for the Global Automakers of Canada industry association, I am a leading voice of industry to governments of all levels in respect of development, implementation and compliance with vehicle equipment standards, road safety, connected and automated vehicles (including wireless spectrum). I am also the association's leading expert in the areas of pollution and greenhouse gas emissions standards, carbon-based and alternative fuels, chemicals management, alternative energy and Zero Emission Vehicles. I am a professional engineer with an extensive and diverse background that includes technical engineering (including manufacturing R&D), communications (both technical and business marketing), and small-business entrepreneurship for combined experience spanning four sectors - Automotive, Aerospace, Agriculture and Manufacturing. Serving in a role that is primarily client and government-facing, but also engages with non-governmental organizations and public entities, I am a highly effective and communicator, and negotiator. My prior experience in managing both technical and business units, as an entrepreneurship and board member of a medium-sized joint-venture retail chain in the agriculture sector have helped me develop a very broad skillset and perspective while retaining an eye for important detail.
