I act as counsel in an array of litigation matters, including a wide variety of commercial litigation; wrongful dismissal and other employment law matters; creditor recovery actions; real estate litigation; insurance law matters; shareholder disputes; professional negligence claims; and commercial tenancy claims. In so doing, I have appeared before all levels of Court in British Columbia, the Trial Division of the Federal Court of Canada and various administrative tribunals, including the B.C. Human Rights Tribunal. I have also been counsel at numerous mediations in order to resolve cases in a timely way and without the need for continued litigation.In addition to the above, I have significant experience in cases relating to lawyer-client financial relationships, including disputes over lawyers' charges, matters relating to retainer agreements and issues relating to security for charges made by lawyers. I also regularly acts as counsel in matters pertaining to the costs of litigation as between parties, including special costs and double costs. I often author works in both fields, including chapters in Canadian Legal Practice (LexisNexis Canada Inc.), Annual Review of Law and Practice (CLE-BC) and Practice Before the Registrar (CLE-BC).More recently, I have become a qualified arbitrator and have offered my services as mediator to those who wish to employ a diplomatic problem solver with a vast array of experience in numerous practice areas to assist them in the resolution of disputes without the need for a determination by the court.
