I was part of a drive test and optimization team. Our task was to drive test Nextel's Chicago-land area coverage identifying and resolving any issues in preparation for the Nextel system to launch with live customers.

I was tasked with building a GSM lab that was to be used for customer demonstrations. I was given $2.4 million dollars to buy and install the necessary cellular and ancillary equipment. By the end of the summer I had successfully completed my task and the lab was capable of making mobile to mobile GSM cellular calls. Because of my success and ability to complete the lab task I was asked to go to United Arab Emirates for a 3 month expat job to integrate and optimize a new GSM network being sold to Etisilat.
