I left the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) in June 2024 after 29 years having served in: Estonia; Ghana; Belarus; Iraq; Washington; Kazakhstan and The Bahamas. In addition from 2015-2020 I was High Commissioner to Guyana and Non-Resident Ambassador to Suriname and in 2022 and 2023 Consul General Toronto, then Consul General Calgary and finally Political Counsellor Ottawa. My last overseas posting was in early 2024 as the Resident British Commissioner to Antigua and Barbuda.In London I served as Baltic States Desk Officer, Head of the UN Political Team, Deputy Head of Caribbean and SIDS Department and Head of the Caribbean Team, and Shape of the Event Lead for the (subsequently postponed) 2024 UK-Africa Summit.I have a degree in International Politics and International History from the University of Wales in Aberystwyth and a Masters in History from the Open University. In 2019 I was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Law by Queen’s University Belfast for distinction in public services and in 2021 I was awarded an OBE for services to British foreign policy. In addition to working with Government I have significant experience working closely with a variety of private companies across the energy, technology, security, infrastructure, defence and service industries.
