I'm a multi-disciplinary engineer with broad experience in UX who's delivered design system UI components to build high performing web applications. ICPSR recruited me to serve a number of roles, starting with building a code library as the single source of truth for the Design System platform. This is used as a catalog presenting code standards and use for an Atomic component library. The Design System in Figma was curated by a team of talented UX product designers. The library will be used across multiple teams and themes, serving the websites of the Institute for Social Research. I supported the design team, translating their work into a code library, building with accessibility and documenting how components should be applied and used. From these components, pages or mockups were developed to demonstrate interactivity and responsive design. Assisting backend developers, much of this work was refactored and coded as components in NextJS. I built solutions to deliver performance improvements during development stages. I was the maintainer for the GitLab repo, writing all usage and installation documentation. I was embedded with Agile Jira teams translating design components into Semantic HTML, CSS, and vanilla JS, coding React components for use in various the applications. We developed a NextJS product. The goal is to enable research data to be made public and create an accessible platform which enables a system to manage sharing and access to digital artifacts and metadata. I reported to all levels of management. I prepared and conducted lightning talks on topics related to developer relations, skills development, and consulted in web performance improvement techniques. As an avid learner, I gained skills in Accessibility and a broader understanding of agile team management in a major university.
