I am in the Forensic Consulting Group at Hemming Morse. My work involves analyzing complex financial or accounting issues, and then communicating my findings in an simple and understandable way. On a day-to-day basis, typical things that I do include:1) Preparing to testify in a commercial litigation matter. I have testified in federal and state courts as well as arbitrations in matters that involve lost profits, the loss in value of a business, out-of-pocket costs, and disputes regarding M&A transactions. 2) Analyzing allegations of accounting fraud. I have worked on a variety of different matters including internal investigations for Audit Committees, serving as an accounting expert for the SEC, and addressing claims in securities litigation.3) Financial or forensic consulting. I frequently perform analysis of complex data sets such as mortgage servicing data or other transaction databases. The purpose of these analyses may be regulatory compliance, to quantify or illustrate the financial effects of the underlying transactions, or for accounting or internal control testing purposes.The credentials that make my work relevant include that I:- Serve on the American Institute of CPA’s (“AICPA”) Forensic and Litigation Services (“FLS”) Committee, which provides guidance to CPAs who perform forensic accounting investigations and determine economic damages.
