Director Of Online StrategyTangent Plc Sep 2006 - Sep 2010Following C360's acquisition by Tangent PLC, I maintained my responsibility as CEO of the acquired business and was subsequently appointed to the PLC board (this was in 2008; but LinkedIn has a problem with fixing the dates above)I had full P&L responsibility, and with a great team, drove the business from revenues under £1m at acquisition to £6m by the end of my lock-in/earn-out period - with profit levels at 50-100% above the targets set at acquisition.Key achievements with clients and the talented team we'd built include: - Developing the architecture and CMS for the most trafficked parts of SAP.com, including developing the e-commerce platform for its massive training and development business - Developing a 50-million SKU ecommerce platform for the leading book retailers in Australia, with the initial launch 12 weeks from appointment - Developing the entire online infrastructure for the UK Labour Party including the main website, hundreds of websites for MPs, email system and membership system - Developing innovative ecommerce, email and other online marketing for businesses including Nails Inc, Borders, Citroen, Greene King and Hermes; and developing online startups like WhipCar.com and Hive.co.ukOur platform has been installed on over a hundred servers in both our own and client data centres, and delivered hundreds of millions of pounds of transactions and hundreds of millions of emails and SMS messages.I led from the front, often working with clients to present our solutions to their most senior management and becoming a trusted adviser to people at all levels in client organisations. I acquired a data- and direct mail business which rapidly paid down its acquisition debt and delivered strong profits, but was ultimately unsuccessful due to a bad acquisition. As an aside, I also bought a coffee shop to stop it being closed, which was bought in 2002 and sold in 2003, delivering excellent returns (and great coffee).
