I ran this business with my wife part-time for two and a half years before going full-time following redundancy. We had two shops at the peak and had a more a more sophisticated stock control and ordering system than some of the national chains. One of the best jobs either of us have had with complete responsibility for dealing with customers through to stock selection. Sadly we had to close the shops and wind up the business due to making 'the wrong decision for all the right reasons'. A fantastic example of the challenges of management and ownership with many lessons learnt that I have been able to bring to my current role.

Project Budget was £1,289,000.Installed centralised raw materials recovery system and plant for a budget of £200,000. Installed and modified packaging equipment for major product re-launch with a Budget of £800,000.

Manufacturers and suppliers of mineral and coal processing equipment to the mineral extraction industries.; Responsible for sales of Andritz belt filter presses in the UK from initial enquiry to commissioning. This included initial plant design and budget costing from sample test results.Arranging pilot scale test work at clients' sites. e.g. Severn Trent Water Authority and British Coal.

Producers of abrasive and refractory grain and specialist Zirconia powders.Process EngineerProcess trouble-shooting for production and quality control staff to analyse and correct unexpected changes in the product. Reduced the grinding time of micronised Zirconia powders by 75%.Member of team that installed new crushing concept for abrasive and refractory grain. Reduced wear part costs by 95%.Recommended and had accepted an alternative method of producing refractory products which was implemented in the new crushing plant.

Undergraduate work experience as part of degree requirement. Liaised with external consultant to provide laboratory test work for his work on Vacuum filtration plant. Provided data for mass balance exercise on Froth Flotation plant.
