Currently the Executive Director of Techsitter and the Operations Director of Matriarch. Both businesses are positioned as disrupters in the IoT and renewable energy management landscape. My career started as an Industrial Engineer at a consulting company, primarily focused on process improvement, optimisation and site development plans for the breweries in South Africa, Nigeria, Angola and Ghana. My passion for engineering and innovation was soon challenged by a developing interest in business and strategy. After a few years of getting my hands dirty and interacting with individuals on all levels of the corporate food chain, I wanted to change paths slightly and take a step in a new direction. I wanted to apply my Engineering background and technical experience to the world of business.I joined a prominent Financial Services Provider in South Africa as a System Analyst. I spent a few years in a fast pace, AGILE project environment that focused on system enhancements and development as well as general business support. For the majority of this time, I was engaged in the development of a Utilities Management system, a "Bolt-on" to the already established system infrastructure, used across the business and its platform partners. During this time, I gained an in-depth understanding of the product and accompanying business model.The acquisition and restructuring of the IoT partner presented an opportunity for me to move into the role of General Manager. I made the move from the Financial Services "big brother" to the IoT startup - Techsitter. This tech startup was faced with tremendous opportunity in the ever-changing and ever-evolving tech space.Matriarch is an intelligent Asset Management business focussed on the renewable energy sector. A decision was made to merge and consolidate the IoT Technology Partner - Techsitter and the Asset Management Business - Matriarch. My role here will be focussed on bolstering operations and building a scalable intelligent asset management enterprise.
