I booked appointments/found opportunities for solutions within our market leading Supply Chain Management suite which focuses on EDI (Electronic Trading/E-Invoicing) & Vendor Management. After I graduated, I moved to Cape Town, South Africa to gain Work experience at a company owned by a close family friend.Itec is a dominant office automation, production printing, telecommunications and financial solutions provider, for small-medium enterprises and large corporate companies, in South Africa and the UK. Itec Cape Town has over one hundred employees and turns over ten million pounds per year (approx). I spent three months shadowing Finance, Admin, HR, Sales and Technical support. This has given me a unique insight into how a successful business is run. I enjoyed the experience of Sales and Finance the most. Finance allowed me to be involved with the whole company, focussing on area targets, costs, profits, monthly management reporting and the collection of debts. Sales experience included cold canvassing various offices and businesses in Cape Town and subsequently arranging meetings (cold-calling) for the sales team to sell their hardware and software solutions.I also attended internal sales training courses on how to sell as well as shadowing members of the sales team on meetings whereby price and delivery of the solutions was negotiated.At the end of my three month work experience I was asked to give a 20 minute presentation to the Itec management team on my view on where improvements could be made to the organisation. I was rewarded with a letter of recommendation for my efforts.

During a Summer break while at University, I assisted my Father's company, helping to generate leads by compiling a list of prospects to target, gathering contact names and details so that they could be targeted for Sales and Marketing Campaigns/CallsResponsibilities included:-Compiling a list of all the L&P insurers in the UK, Ireland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden and South Africa. -Constructing a database of insurers, their addresses and telephone numbers. -Cold calling to find the names and email address of IT Directors, Chief Technology Officers and Chief Actuaries.
