Concerned by the growing crisis and impact of road crashes on poor economies, Greig Craft established AIP Foundation (Asia Injury Prevention Foundation) to improve road traffic safety in the developing world in 1999.His innovative solutions have since had impact in reducing road crash fatalities and injuries in Asia and Africa. His creation of a lightweight 'tropical' helmet has been hailed as a milestone in child injury prevention. His signature Helmets for Kids program was officially launched by former US President Bill Clinton in 2000, and has since distributed over one million child helmets in Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Nepal, East Africa and Latin America.Setting up the world's first nonprofit helmet factory (Protec) in Vietnam, Greig Craft created a new model of public-private partnership demonstrating self-sustainability and social contribution. Protec is a recognized leader in producing quality, yet affordable, US designed helmets for the masses. Protec puts all ‘profits’ back into local communities for road safety education and public awareness campaigns, and employs the physically disabled as assembly line workers.Greig Craft is a member of the UNRSC (United Nations Road Safety Collaboration). He has been twice awarded the Prince Michael Award for International Road Safety, and Vietnamese President Nguyen Minh Triet bestowed the Order of Friendship for his contributions to Road Safety. In 2016 he established AA Vietnam, an FIA sanctioned Automobile Association.In September 2021, Greig Craft was elected for the President position of the FIA Asia-Pacific Region II, one of four global regions of the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile). The FIA Asia-Pacific Region II has 24 member clubs with 32 million members in 20 Asia-Pacific countries including Vietnam, Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Ceylon, China, Taipei, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Macau, Mongolia, Singapore, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines and Thailand. They are all significantly involved with tourism, environment, roadside assistance, insurance and road safety.Greig Craft organizes genital reconstruction surgeries for poor children throughout Asia and has provided more than 500 free operations for boys and girls including phalloplasty for penile genesis, cloacal exstrophy, rudimentary micropenis, PAIS, and traumatic and iatrogenic amputations.
