    At Assa Abloy Entrance Systems (AAES) I had the position as R&D Director, Business Segment Industrial (BSI).  In this role I was accountable for the co-ordination of R&D organisations in Italy, Belgium and North America, besides being direct responsible for the Business Area (BA) IDS. In total the BSI R&D organisation, consist of roughly 150 people.Due to several acquisitions over the years the R&D organisation was fragmented and the critical mass of resources, competences and capabilities do not exist. To drive innovation in an efficient way it is key to use common product platforms. Likewise, it is important to retain and recruit critical competences. In order to establish this a consolidation and restructuring program across the European R&D sites was initiated. In addition to this I have been driving a culture change towards a more software based, agile and user centered organisation to be able further grow the IoT initiative within AAES. Moreover, I have gained a great technical understanding about AAES offerings, capabilities and potential that will be key to define future Digital Solutions. The launch of the IoT solution to customers have increased my understanding of their needs, the market and the competitive environment. Likewise, the launch via the internal sales organisations have improved my understanding of what obstacles that have to be overcome to extensively increase sales of Digital Solutions.

    At Assa Abloy Entrance Systems I had the position as R&D Director for the Business Area Industrial Door Solutions (IDS) (Sales 8 Billion SEK). I was a member of the IDS management team and reported to the president of IDS. I was responsible for a global product development organisation with roughly 110 people in the field of mechanics, electronics and software. The main R&D sites were located in Sweden, Netherlands, Germany and Romania. Since product development is a cross-functional discipline consisting of people from sales, marketing, R&D, sourcing, quality and production it is key to get these people aligned to improve the product development performance. To lead all these people in a decentralized multi-culture organisation I put a lot of effort into the strategy work and to develop empowered, committed and autonomous teams. This extensive work already paid off after a few months and the product development organisations become more trustful, reliable and committed to deliver on the agreed strategy, initiatives and actions. I led the strategy work through the product managers, commercial directors and business unit managers. In a short time frame, I manage to take a huge step on the journey to become a world class product development organization.More specifically I was responsible for the Internet of Things (IoT) cloud platform within Assa Abloy Entrance Systems that will be used to build an ecosystem of connected products and services for improved flow of people, goods and business. Likewise, the platform will enable new business models, improve the efficiency of the service organisation (predictive maintenance) and be a catalyst for growth.
