I intend to dedicate my career to achieve positive social and environmental change through architecture and design that enhances sustainable development and inspires inclusive and healthy communities. In the face of human induced climate change I believe future architecture must prioritize sustainability and contribute to necessary decarbonization in the building sector. My interest in architecture began with a passion for design stemming from my focus in visual arts as an art-magnet high school, called Vancouver School of Arts and Academics. I knew I wanted to purpose architecture after participating in Design CoMission, a student led partnership with LSW Architects in Vancouver for three consecutive years in high school. I pursued this at the University of Washington where I received a Bachelor’s of Arts in Arts in Architectural Design and a minor in Urban Design and Planning graduating with Departmental Honors in the spring of 2022. My studies were enhanced by a Urban Planning study abroad in Berlin and Architectural Design studio in Rome. My academic focus was architecture, sustainability, and design, and I completed my senior thesis research on Building Integrated Agriculture. I am currently working at SMR Architects in Seattle which designs multi-family affordable housing in the Pacific Northwest with the goal of providing livable, just, and affordable housing to all. My previous jobs have included a full time position through the summer of 2021 at a sustainable design build company called Ninebark where I engaged in the full process of design and construction of a passive house in Seattle bridging my design skill sets with practical building methodology. In the summer of 2020 I worked for Architectural Building Inspections which focused on code-compliance of buildings, honing a foundation in building codes and standards. I have worked part-time through my college education at various jobs in Seattle including a Tesearch Assistant for The Carbon Leadership Forum, Illustrations Editor for the UW Daily, customer relations at Meany Hall Center for the Performing Arts, and a research assistant the UW Center for Anxiety and Traumatic Stress. In my freetime I enjoy rock climbing, hiking, backpacking, and traveling. I am eager to create a social and environmental impact with the medium of architecture and design and am driven to expand my skills sets.
