The overarching goal of my research program is to improve the long-term productive capacity of agronomic systems by identifying limitations and developing methods to address these limitations. Results to date demonstrate the extent to which poor soils limit crop yields. Alternative production methods are tested that improve soil health, enhance crop resiliency, and increase return on investment. Integrated animal and crop systems are tested through model simulations and field experimentation for their potential to improve agronomic system performance and economic return while reducing negative environmental impacts. Resilient, sustainable agronomic practices improve soil and water resources and enhance the economic return of production systems.
