In the beginning it was all about traveling to find empty surf, deep snow and a major lack of people. We originally ROAM’d about the Pacific Northwest in a 98’ Tacoma with a Canopy on the back. It was great for accessing all sorts of amazing places, but when it turned cold and wet, it got a bit old pretty quickly. We had always dreamt of having a vehicle that could keep us dry throughout the Northwest winters and allow us to access snowy mountains and desolate sandy beaches. Plus having a heater to warm up after cold surf sounded really nice too. An RV was too big and could really only fit on a Highway or in a Walmart parking lot, both are places we desperately wanted to avoid. Plus, an RV is really painful to drive around in. So we stumbled upon a campervan and realized it was the perfect solution, and ROAMERICA and Axis Vehicle Outfitters was born.
