I believe small business is the greatest vehicle for value creation. A business is an ecosystem of customers & clients, employees, vendors, partners, and the community, and our mission at Red Bike Advisors is to create value for and through that ecosystem. In 2023, I acquired an accounting firm that provides Accounting & Bookkeeping, Tax Strategy & Filing, Advisory, Tax Controversy & Resolution, and Fraud Investigations & Forensic Accounting to small businesses and entrepreneurs. The number one question I get is, "Why accounting?" The answer is simple. I believe every business owner needs to know their numbers in order to be truly successful, but you don’t have to be a financial whiz yourself. You won’t find me doing my own taxes or creating a headcount forecast, but I do have big growth goals and I rely on my CFO and accounting & tax teams to help me plan the route to getting there. When we help our clients achieve their goals, I know we’ve truly succeeded in our mission.Fun facts:• I'm one of those people who actually loves Mondays. I have a sign on my office wall that says "Do what you love, love what you do." I truly believe that showing up every day excited to make a positive impact on others is the very best driver for productivity and results.• When my kids were little, I wrote about homes, gardens, food, and wine for magazines like Better Homes & Gardens, Woman's Day, Wine Enthusiast, HGTV.com, MyRecipes.com, and Cooking Light. People still send me articles they came across online with my byline and I get to take a trip down memory lane on how to design a home office or best wines to pair with Thai food.• I'm obsessed with real estate, own a boutique vacation rental business (with aaallll the guest stories to prove it and provide entertainment for family gatherings until the end of time), and am a limited partner in several commercial real estate investments.• With a husband and four kids, free time is precious. I use mine to read, cook, work out, and hike in our beautiful Great Smoky Mountains National Park. • I'm a huge fan of the Oxford comma and em-dashes.
